Doctor of Applied Language Sciences (DALS)

The first of its kind in Hong Kong and Asia, DALS is a professional doctorate programme offered by FH of PolyU. We now invite applications for its eighth intake in September 2019.

Combining interdisciplinary scholars and experts from the Department of Chinese and Bilingual Studies, the Department of English, the English Language Centre and the Department of Computing, the programme aims to help nurture and develop future leaders in language-related professions. Unlike traditional PhD programmes, DALS is a flexible mixed mode programme that combines not only theoretical components, but also advanced studies and research in areas of professional significance and relevance.

There are four focus areas within DALS:
1) Language Education;
2) Intercultural and Professional Communication;
3) Translating and Interpreting; and
4) Speech Sciences, Language Processing, and Cognition.

We also offer scholarships exclusively to outstanding students with excellent academic merits and teaching assistantships to qualified candidates.

There will also be an Information Session on 12 January 2019 (Saturday) from 2:00-4:00pm at GH803, 8/F, Core G, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hung Hom, Kowloon, Hong Kong, which you can meet and further discuss with our Programme Leader and current students in the programme.
