You must have a PhD or equivalent in a relevant field and demonstrable teaching experience in Translation Studies at university level, ideally MA level. Your research may focus on any aspect of Translation Studies. Preference may be given to candidates who work on audio-visual translation. Only applicants with high quality publications will be considered. You must be fluent in English and at least one other language. You will be able to deliver theoretical core courses and practice-oriented MA course units in audio-visual translation and in some of the following areas: commercial translation, legal translation, medical translation, scientific translation, technical translation, translating for international organisations, public service interpreting. You must have experience developing online teaching materials. A record of grant capture and PhD supervision would be highly desirable, as would experience of assessing translation at undergraduate level. You must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to empathise with students.
As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons and all appointments will be made on merit. As we are committed to the principles of the Race Equality Charter Mark, we would particularly welcome applications from the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) community who are currently under-represented at this level in this area.
