This role is designed to consolidate Swansea’s strength in translation and interpreting in the School of Culture and Communication. As well as BA Translation and Interpreting, the School offers BA English-Chinese Translation and Interpreting, which teaches students from partner universities in China (on 2+2 BA degrees and 1+1 BA / MA schemes). We have a cohort of Mandarin students on our twin MA programmes in Translation and Interpreting and Professional Translation, and several PhD students in Translation and Interpreting.
The successful candidate will lead both undergraduate and postgraduate translation and interpreting modules and contribute to team-taught undergraduate and postgraduate translation and interpreting modules, such as MLZM01 Advanced Translation – Mandarin, MLTM25 Conference Interpreting, MLT320 Interpreting – Business, MLT207 Dialogue Interpreting, MLZ102 Translation Workshop – Media, MLZ202 Translation Workshop – Business, MLT100 Concepts in Translation and Interpreting and MLTM05 Foundations of Translation and Interpreting.
The successful candidate will be expected to support the existing portfolio of interpreting modules and develop it as required. Therefore, experience in interpreting and/or teaching interpreting is very desirable. The successful candidate will also be expected to support teaching and research by supervising postgraduate students at the appropriate level (MA and/or PhD).

The successful candidate will have a record of research outputs and demonstrate the potential to secure resources to underpin original research/scholarly/innovation activity. The successful candidate will be expected to work collegially as part of a team within and outside the immediate subject area.
Person Specification Criteria
- A PhD or equivalent qualification/experience in a relevant subject area.
- Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) or equivalent.
