[News] SISU Translation Research Summer School
The first edition of the SISU Translation Research Summer School, organised by the Baker Centre for Translation and Intercultural Studies at Shanghai International Studies University, will take place in early July 2022.
SISU TRSS aims to offer cutting-edge, intensive research training that addresses the evolving needs of doctoral and early career researchers in translation and interpreting studies, as well as those of more experienced academics who are new to the discipline or interested in engaging with recent developments in the field. In addressing new themes and revisiting old ones from fresh perspectives, the School provides a solid foundation for conducting research in the field and equips prospective researchers with the intellectual and practical tools to launch their own independent projects.
In view of the uncertainty of the pandemic situation, which looks set to continue posing a serious problem in most countries, the School will be run in virtual mode, using an advanced e-learning environment provided by SISU. This allows for the full range of activities normally included in the face-to-face delivery mode to be provided virtually, including teamwork and tutorials. Our experience of running the International Research School for Media Translation and Digital Culture in this mode in July 2021 has been very positive.
The featured theme for the first edition of the Translation Research Summer School is Context and Contextualisation.
Teaching staff delivering the 2022 School will include Mona Baker, Sue-Ann Harding, Kyunghye Kim, Maialen Marin-Lacarta and Gabriela Saldanha.
Registration will open in March 2022.
