Position description

The Département d’études françaises at Concordia University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Translation Studies. The successful candidate’s research should be related to translation as a mode of action and reflection based on social justice (for example, promoting under-represented social groups, links to marginalized communities and to the social economy, the digital divide). The successful candidate should have professional experience in translation and, ideally, in revision, professional writing or post-editing. They should also be able to contribute to the pedagogical integration of translation technologies in the programs offered by the Département d’études françaises. The duties of this position will include research, teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and service to the institution.

Qualifications and assets

Candidates must have completed their PhD in Translation Studies or a related field, or be near completion at the start date of the appointment. The main criteria for selection are scholarly and teaching excellence and a demonstrated commitment to supporting our department’s equitable and inclusive learning environments. The successful candidate will provide evidence of high-quality scholarly output that demonstrates potential for independent research leading to peer-assessed publications and the securing of external research funding, as well as strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
