[CFP] International Conference on Translation Studies – “Theory in Practice”
The Department of Translation at The Chinese University of Hong Kong is pleased to announce an upcoming international conference entitled “Theory in Practice,” to be held on Friday and Saturday, 6-7 December 2024. This conference aims to bridge the gap between theoretical frameworks and practical applications within the field of translation and interpreting.
We invite researchers from around the world to submit abstracts for consideration. The conference will serve as a platform to discuss recent advances, explore innovative approaches, and engage with the practical challenges and solutions found in the application of theory to translation practice.
Conference themes include (but are not limited to):
- Theoretical innovations in translation pedagogy
- Computational Linguistics and translation technology
- Sociological and cultural approaches in translation practice
- Postcolonial and gender studies in translation practice
- Translation ethics in practice
- The role of theory in interpreter training
- Literary translation: bridging the gap between theory and practice
- Globalization theory and localization practice
- Cognitive approaches to translation and interpreting
- Digital humanities and translation practice
- Practicing theory
- Developing translation theory through practice
Submission Guidelines:
- Abstracts should be no more than 300 words, written in English.
- Include a brief biography of the author(s) (up to 150 words).
- Indicate the thematic area your paper addresses.
- Provide a list of 3-5 keywords.
