[CFP] Challenges and Opportunities for Translators and Interpreters in a Changing World
The 24th ITRI International Conference (online)
January 24, 2025
The Institute of Translation and Interpreting Studies (ITRI) at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies will virtually host its 24th International Conference on Friday, January 24, 2025. This year, we will explore the timely and critical theme:”Challenges and Opportunities for Translators and Interpreters in a Changing World.”
Change has been constant throughout history, but the rapid advancement of AI technology—particularly generative AI—has dramatically amplified the scale and scope of this transformation. Its significant impact across industries presents new complexities for translators and interpreters, who have always been key facilitators in this exchange of ideas and technology. Yet, history and nature have taught us that challenges also lead to adaptation and growth.
This conference aims to explore the multifaceted implications—challenges and opportunities—for translation and interpreting practices. We invite you to join us in fostering vibrant discussions and sharing valuable insights that will inform the future direction of translation and interpreting.
We welcome submissions on a broad range of topics within this year’s framework, including but not limited to:
- The Evolving Roles and Status of Translators and Interpreters
- Training Translators and Interpreters in the Age of AI
- Human Translation vs. AI/Machine Translation
