[CFP] XV Setmana de la Traducció Audiovisual. Localisation: professional context and new research trends

The traditional Setmana de la Traducció Audiovisual aims to promote communication and the exchange of ideas between the professional and academic sectors of audiovisual translation.

The XV Setmana de la Traducció Audiovisual will be held on 25th and 26th November 2024 at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Universitat Jaume I. The aim is to bring together proposals related to localisation from an academic and professional point of view. For this edition, we have invited experts in the sector, such as Carme Mangiron Hevia, José Ramón Calvo Ferrer, Núria Vidal Castellet, Arturo Vázquez Rodríguez, or Elizabeth Sánchez León, among others. The list below gives an overview of possible topics:

  • Software localisation
  • Web localisation
  • Video game localisation
  • Localisation and dubbing
  • Localisation and subtitling
  • Localisation and accessibility
  • Technologies and localisation
  • Didactic approaches and localisation
  • Descriptive and experimental localisation studies
  • Professional aspects about localisation: professional processes, quality, localisation market, etc.

Proposals on other topics related to localisation not included in the previous list but interesting from an academic and/or professional point of view will also be considered.

Moreover, for the XV Setmana de la Traducció Audiovisual we will have the workshop Traducción de videojuegos, ¿pero qué co**?, conducted by Rubén González Pascual. Registration for this activity must be made in addition to the communication or participant registration.

Those interested in presenting an in-person communication are expected to send a Word document in Catalan, Spanish, or English to the coordinating team with the following information:

  • Provisional title of the communication
  • Full name and affiliation of the author 
  • Abstract: 200-300 words
  • Five keywords

Important deadlines

Submission of proposals: 1st September 2024 until 20th October 2024

Notification of acceptance: 18-30th October 2024

Registration: 1st August 2024 until 25th October 2024

Setmana de la TAV (Conference): 25-26th November 2024

Publication: the coordinating team will contact the participants for further instructions on the publication in the TRAMA collection.

  • Workshop registration: 15 € (Please note that registration for the workshop is independent of the registration as a participant or speaker.)
