[CfP] The 13th International Conference on Technical Communication

In a field constantly shaped by technological advancements, technical communication professionals must hone their skills continuously. The roles of educators and mentors are more crucial than ever in guiding the growth of technical communicators.

The 13th International Conference on Technical Communication, Empowering Technical Communicators: Skills, Growth, and Education, invites thought leaders, researchers, and practitioners to share their expertise, insights, and visions for the future of technical communication. This conference, linked to the research activities of the Master’s program in Multilingual Technical Communication (CTM) at Université Paris Cité, aims to foster discussions on how education and training for technical communicators can be enhanced to meet the challenges of the field. By bridging academia and industry, the event will explore how emerging skills and competencies are shaped and developed, positioning technical communicators to thrive in a rapidly evolving professional landscape.

This year, we offer a hybrid format, welcoming both in-person and online participation to make this exchange of ideas accessible to a broader audience. We welcome submissions of abstracts for a 20 min talk (plus 10 min discussion) that include case studies, as well as theoretical and empirical research contributions in the following areas:

• Aligning academic programs to equip future technical communicators with in-demand skills.
• Helping students integrate into professional life.
• Providing on-the-job training and mentoring to technical communicators.
• Coaching for guiding technical communicators in career progression and leadership development.
• Integrating emerging technologies in education.
• Multilingual communication skills for technical communicators in a global context.
• Interdisciplinary research in technical communication.
• Ethics and inclusivity in technical communication.

Each abstract will be reviewed anonymously by two reviewers.

Papers should be presented in one of two ways:

• In person
• Virtually (Zoom)

• Language: English
• Format: The file is always in WORD .docx or .doc, NEVER in .pdf
• Margins: A4, 2 cm × 2 cm × 2 cm × 2 cm.
• Extension: Maximum 1 page including references (at least 400 words including the 5 keywords).
• Font: Times New Roman, 12-point. Title in ALL CAPS, bold, 14-point, centred. Single-spaced and justified.
• Keywords: Five mandatory concepts with justified alignment, title in bold and text in normal type.
• Content: Introduction, objectives, methodology and conclusions must be established.
• Number of abstracts: 
  Maximum 2 per author, writing alone or in co-authorship.
